Resumo: Society needs to be aware with environmental legislation, and more specifically, to the law of environmental crimes. Deforestation in southwestern Paraná region has historically been very intense, and thus raises the hypothesis that it is still a concern for today. This study aimed to diagnose the predicate offenses that cause environmental fines in the southwest of Paraná, as well as quantitative assessment and qualitative environmental procedures, checking the monetary value of fines and the applicable legislation, determine the amount of cases that were processed in administrative and judicial levels IAP between the period from 2009 to 2014, and finally to assess the scope of action of the environmental control agency in southwestern Paraná. The data provided by the environmental enforcement authority showed that municipalities with the highest number of offenses was Francisco Beltrao, Capanema / Quince and São Jorge D'Oeste. The municipalities of Renascença, Francisco Beltrao and Dois Vizinhos were the ones who had the highest fines. Crimes against flora are still the most fined offenses, followed by the lack of licensing and crimes against wildlife.
