Resumo: Genetic diversity is one of the three global priorities for conservation and to promote genetic improvement. Crossbreeding programs between the bovine breeds have as main objective the evolution of the populations for the adaptations with the environment in which they live. Another important point of genetic diversity is that the lower the heterozygosity of the herd, the greater the inbreeding, and the overall reduction in reproduction. In the present study, a total of 4 bulls and 16 from the São Marcos compound (1/2 Machigiana x1/2Angus), located in the municipality of Dois Vizinhos - PR, were analyzed for SSRs - MB099, IDVA53, BL41, CSSM054, BM6425, BM3517, RM011. With the exception of markers BM3517 and IDVA53 that had not established their annealing temperature until the present time, all other SSRs showed polymorphism for the population evaluated. The estimated ICP values varied from 0.2688 for the RM099 SSR to 0.7992 for the SSR BM6425. Despite the use of a reduced number of SSRs to date, it was possible to verify that there is a high genetic diversity within the analyzed population , and it is possible to suggest preliminary mating within the population. In the analysis of genetic variability using the Structure program, we obtained a division of the 16 individuals evaluated in three groups (k = 3). However, to assert with more accuracy it is necessary to perform this study with another 10 SSRs.
