Currently, adequate food and health issues are much discussed. These issues become more important when it comes to the elderly, who have different nutritional needs. This study aimed to verify the food and life of the older people patrons of a Living Center of the East Zone of Londrina habits. Was applied in 11 subjects a semi-structured questionnaire with open and closed questions about lifestyle and eating habits. Observed a low level of education among respondents, low monthly income, good sanitation conditions and the presence of a gas stove, refrigerator and television in every home. Regarding health, all have at least one chronic non-communicable disease, all are non-smoking, is just a wheelchair. All prepare their food at home. As for food intake, only half presents daily consumption of fruits and vegetables since most consume daily. Milk and dairy products daily consume only 7. There were reports of low daily intake of fried foods, processed meats, soda, juice and artificial seasonings ready. These data demonstrate an inadequate supply thus shares food information in this population may help in the improvement of nutrition, with consequent improvement of the health of these elderly. |
