The objective of this study was to analyze and predict the corn scenario in the state of Paraná, specifically, to predict planted areas, areas harvested, production, average yield and prices practiced for the two harvests that occur during the year. Firstly, we discussed the corn crop in the national scenario, and in the sequence, we tried to present concepts about forecasting through a bibliographic study. We approached the quantitative and qualitative models where we showed the main forecasting methods, together with concepts about error control. Later, historical data were collected, directly from the database of the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (CEPEA) and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), to be analyzed statistically to identify cycles, trends and seasonality. Data processing and evaluation were done with the help of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and the software Action Stat and NNQ – Statistics.The statistics for all variables were satisfied because they were within the limits of the forecast. |
