Resumo: The business market is extremely competitive as price and quality are nearly equal between various companies, therefore a way to standout among the competition is to have the shortest delivery period. Production planning and control tools are essential in all companies and with its tools, as the Theory of Constraints, the organization can reach the proper and desired delivery time. Developed by the Israeli physicist Eliyahu Goldratt. the mentioned tool has five focusing steps: Identify the system's constraints; exploit the system's constraints; Subordinate everything else to constraints; Elevate the system's constraint and by last go back to step one. The presented study was realized in a furniture industry with high index of deliveries delay and the objective is, assisted by the five steps tool, to identify and restrain the possible reasons. A group of items was analyzed, being this group compounded by three types of chairs, as they highly represent the industry’s production. Further on, the restrictions in the production process were identified and explored throw several analysis to detect the reason for that to become a restriction initially. The next step was to associate the non-bottleneck resources to the identified restriction. At last, all led to raise of the restriction building a sawtooth curve that helped the company’s managers in the acquisition of raw material. Returning to step one, it is expected to find new restrictions, this time, in new sectors.
