Resumo: Every day increase the use of batteries in electronic equipment, which in turn often discarded inappropriately, becoming soil contaminants, air and water. So this study aimed to educate students of the municipal school of Serranópolis do Iguaçu - PR and promote campaign by raising awareness of the general population, to collect used batteries. Collectors devices were installed at strategic points and the gathering held at the end of a period of 30 days. The awareness took place through educational lectures and activities, according to the age of the students. Were also distributed one thousand educational pamphlets at the Municipal School, State High Schools, Health Centers and City Hall, and these pamphlets contained information from which were installed the collectors devices in the city. After performing the segregation of materials collected, it was noticed a higher volume of cells compared to batteries, and subsequently transferred to the municipal government, and the Department of Environment who have signed up to continue the project. Regarding awareness was obtained success in engaging students on the importance of batteries in our lives and the impact that may be caused by improper disposal of such waste. Thus, it was created in students the desire to know more about these products and their problems, thereby attaining the expected results.
