The book deals with the history of illustration for children in order to show its evolution, enabling understanding about the universe of children's book. The target audience was defined based on interviews with pedagogues, followed by activities with children to know in more depth about their preferences. Children's books on the market were studied, noting their most relevant graphic aspects in order to use them as a reference. Illustrators were interviewed in order to know their creative processes. Finally, the illustrations and graphic design of the children's book were created. Este trabalho apresenta a criação de ilustrações e projeto gráfico de um livro infantil para a história "A menina e o passarinho". Discorreu-se sobre a história da ilustração infantil para que fosse possível conhecer sua evolução, permitindo entendimento sobre o universo do livro infantil. Definiu-se o público alvo a partir de entrevistas com pedagogas, e então foram realizadas atividades com crianças para conhecer com mais profundidade as preferências das mesmas. Estudaram-se livros já existentes no mercado, observando seus aspectos gráficos mais relevantes a fim de utilizá-los como referência. Foram entrevistadas ilustradoras com o intuito de conhecer seus processos de criação.
