Resumo: The top closure of the building, called the roof, is intended to protect the building against the weather. The potential of planted timber for commercial purposes combined with new construction techniques relive the material wood in great choice for building solutions current. The need for low cost of the final product and the demand for new homes increase the search for alternatives that are made to coincide with conventional models. Considering a model home with three standard models of coverage, two conventional and one based on the North American lightweight system has significant difference between the amount of wood needed for construction costs and the same with the timber. The variations between systems and within the system adopted interfere significantly in the amount of material and costs. The roof light North American showed a great advantage over conventional, in cost and rationalization of the wood.
