Resumo: The interest in this research began with the knowledge of the Portuguese teaching project for Haitian immigrants living in Pato Branco - Pr. In this sense, the project had as proposal to work the culture and the linguistic diversity in the teaching of Portuguese for Haitians. The main objectives of this study were to work orality and Portuguese language by these immigrants, based on the choice of themes that involve the culture of Brazil, with regard to cooking, parties and clothing. Were invited 12 informants from Haiti and currently living in Pato Branco, to participate in this research. A questionnaire was applied in order to know the level of knowledge of Portuguese of each informant. The project basically included three steps: observation and diagnosis of the difficulties of the apprentices; Preparation of activities; Implementation of activities. For activities, in addition to the material proposed in the classroom; The computer lab was used, since some activities required access to the internet and audios. Finally, the performance of the Haitian immigrants was verified, and if the didactic proposals allowed to overcome the difficulties of the group. According to the development and the participation of the members during the meetings, it can be concluded that the proposals had a positive result, taking into account all the contributions they had in the oral and written form of the immigrants, they were comprehensive.
