Resumo: The authors J.K. Huysmans and Oscar Wilde transposed in their works the influences received by the Aesthetic and Decadentistmovements, which guided the configuration of the characters Des Esseintes and Dorian Gray. This study has relevance for a more comprehensive analysis of the works in question, seeking to understand the aspects of the characters, aiming to portray traces of similarities between the characters that approach the overvaluation of the image, power, hedonism, among other nuances, such as deprivation of feelings and feeling of seclusion. Through the analysis of the works we explore the authors' relations with the society of the end of the nineteenth century in Europe and the dominant literary aesthetics, bycontemplating every point of contact between Dorian Gray and Des Esseintes, about dandism, hedonism, artificialism, vanity, and social and moral conduct.
