This study has relevance for a more comprehensive analysis of the works in question, seeking to understand the aspects of the characters, aiming to portray traces of similarities between the characters that approach the overvaluation of the image, power, hedonism, among other nuances, such as deprivation of feelings and feeling of seclusion. Through the analysis of the works we explore the authors' relations with the society of the end of the nineteenth century in Europe and the dominant literary aesthetics, bycontemplating every point of contact between Dorian Gray and Des Esseintes, about dandism, hedonism, artificialism, vanity, and social and moral conduct. Os autores J.K. Huysmans e Oscar Wilde transpassaram em suas obras as influências recebidas pelos movimentos esteticistas e decadentistas; tais influências nortearam a configuração das personagens Des Esseintes e Dorian Gray. Este estudo tem relevância para uma análise mais abrangente das obras em questão, buscando a compreensão dos aspectos das personagens, objetivando retratar traços de semelhanças entre as personagens que abordem a supervalorização da imagem, do poder, do hedonismo, dentre outras nuances como a privação de sentimentos e o sentimento de reclusão.
