Resumo: In recent years, there has been significant expansion of information and communication technologies and, consequently, changes in the educational scenario. In 2013, the city of Pato Branco, Paraná, purchased educational tablets for teachers and students of the 5th grade of elementary public school through the program Clique Conhecimento – Oportunidade em Nossas Mãos. In order to know the perceptions of teachers and students involved in the process of insertion of this technology in the practice of teaching and learning, we conducted this study. For this purpose, is presented how tablets contribute to the learning of Portuguese language content and other areas; how they have been used and what has facilitated and hindered the device’s use by the students and teachers involved in the project. It was developed a field research, of qualitative and quantitative nature, in which questionnaires were applied with open and closed questions, as well as interviews with students and teachers involved in the program. This study concluded that tablets contribute to learning, since they may, through its features and applications, make this process more motivating. Students have shown great enthusiasm for studies after the integration with tablets; there is also considerable increase in curiosity and student experience for the equipment’s use, which are enablers of education; among the factors that hinder the realization of the class with tablet use are recurring technical problems in equipment, the limited availability of internet in schools and the resistance that the use of the equipment brings to some teachers and students.
