Resumo: This work aims to analyze the representation of female characters, Isaltina and Adelia, they have distinct ethnic classes and they are present in the novels Lucas Procópio and Um cavalheiro de antigamente, of Autran Dourado, from the perspective of patriarchy. In both narratives, the characters are inserted in a macho, prejudiced and discriminatory environment, which seeks to mold them to pre-established ideologies historically and socially. Thus, this study presents the main features that marked the period from the beginning of colonization until the end of slavery. In this time prevailed in the formation of the brazilian family the patriarchal regime, marked by despotism of white men, that were educated in the spirit of the “casa-grande”, often large landowners and people. Therefore, through the analysis of the presence of patriarchy in the two novels, will be configured to confrontational and hierarchical relation established between man versus woman. By extension, it seeks to relate in the two novels studied similarities and differences between the white woman, represented by Isaltina and the black woman, represented by Adelia in this important brazilian period, which generated negative consequences still visible in the society.
