In both narratives, the characters are inserted in a macho, prejudiced and discriminatory environment, which seeks to mold them to pre-established ideologies historically and socially. Thus, this study presents the main features that marked the period from the beginning of colonization until the end of slavery. In this time prevailed in the formation of the brazilian family the patriarchal regime, marked by despotism of white men, that were educated in the spirit of the “casa-grande”, often large landowners and people. Therefore, through the analysis of the presence of patriarchy in the two novels, will be configured to confrontational and hierarchical relation established between man versus woman. By extension, it seeks to relate in the two novels studied similarities and differences between the white woman, represented by Isaltina and the black woman, represented by Adelia in this important brazilian period, which generated negative consequences still visible in the society. Este trabalho busca analisar a representação das personagens femininas, Isaltina e Adélia, de grupos étnicos distintos, presentes nos romances Lucas Procópio e Um cavalheiro de antigamente, de Autran Dourado, sob a ótica do patriarcalismo. Em ambas as narrativas, as personagens estão inseridas em um ambiente marcadamente machista, preconceituoso e discriminatório, que busca moldá-las a ideologias preestabelecidas histórica e socialmente. Nessa linha de raciocínio, este estudo apresenta as principais características que marcaram o período desde o início da colonização até o fim da escravidão, época em que prevaleceu na formação da família brasileira a influência do regime patriarcal, marcado pelo mandonismo dos homens brancos, educados dentro do espírito da casa-grande, muitas vezes grandes proprietários de terras e de pessoas. Por conseguinte, por intermédio da análise da presença do patriarcalismo nas duas obras, será configurada a relação conflituosa e hierárquica que se estabelecia entre o homem versus a mulher.
