Resumo: It presents an analysis of Lygia Bojunga Nunes‘s novel, A bolsa amarela. Published in 1976, this book is expressive in Brazilian literature for children and young people. A bolsa amarela presents a dynamic narrative focused on the child‘s perspective, Raquel. The narrative develops itself through Raquel‘s wills, which are opposites of her reality. The binary pairs: child-adult, girl-boy and non-writer-writer are the narrative driving forces. According to Vygotsky (1999), in literary works there are always opposite feelings growing up on the same proportion. The opposite feelings develop themselves until the culmination, when they fuse in a short circuit, reaching the art aesthetic effect: catharsis. In narratives, according to Vygotsky (1999), there are two basic mechanisms: the ―fable‖, that consists in facts from reality, and ―plot‖, the organization of the ―fable‖ in the narrative. Therefore, this analysis intends to understand the mechanics used by the narrator to cause the aesthetic effect in the reader.
