Resumo: This paper proposes a methodology to design damping controllers for power systems based on the energy of the system output as a performance index. The proposed methodology aims to provide an alternative to the design techniques based on the regional pole placement in the form of linear matrix inequalities, providing less computer effort, promoting its applications in high-order systems. Control formulation problems, in the form of linear matrix inequalities, related to the synthesis of damping controllers are discussed in the paper. The stages of the project will be characterized, the control problem proposed solution, as well the tests and results due to the formulation of the proposed damping control methodology.
