Among advanced oxidative process (AOPs), plasma technology has been shown to be promising, mainly nonthermal plasma technologies applied to wastewater treatment for its features potentially viable for economic and environmental viewpoint by dispensing chemical additives and guarantee the degradation of these molecules, including toxic, dangerous and without or with low biodegradability, through species mechanisms of species highly oxidants, such as radicals hydroxyl (•OH), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), ozone (O3) and other reactive species oxygen (ROS). In this work, paraquat, one of the most lethal herbicides in nowadays, was degraded in aqueous medium by a nonthermal plasma system previously done, and its kinetics studied. The kinetic models are suited best to second-order models and the activation energy (Ea) found for this a process was 13.97 kJ mol-1. |
