The permanence of an organization in the current marketplace is profoundly complicated due to the instability and the growing complexity. Organizations must adjust themselves and create strategies to stand out through their competitors and then, obtain competitive advantage. This differentiation might be achieved by the collaborators and mainly by the organization leaders. The new perspectives of the leader result in a great capacity of integration and interaction of the business functions with the leadership, creation of strategies to accomplish the goals, also bring out team’s commitment. An efficient leader is able to create conditions to develop new leaders which assist the organization to become more competitive.This work aimed to evaluate the factors that impact the leadership in a Brazilian multinational and to propose actions to improve the practices of the leadership development. It was based on a case study supported by literature search and, for a better understanding, the study was divided into four stages. The first stage was intended to the investigation of the current situation of the company’s leader to present an introduction of the general practices, behaviors and profiles. The next stage reported the new proposal of organization’s leadership as well as the ideal situation of leaders. The third stage targeted the research of practices and programs to the development of the leadership in the study company. The last step aimed to assess and better fit the results obtained in the previous phases so that, propose improvement actions to increase leaders’ qualification levels. As a result, the improvement proposals were: skills interviews, training and orientation programs. |
