Here is described the handling characteristics of the system and manual operations performed by operators. It also features methods of programming and hardware architecture and software involved in the production line. Today these operations are performed by means of manual controls, which does not contribute to the line productivity. The study is a fundamentally applied scientific research in the field and presents through the implementation of the automatic system a solution that meets the needs of the process whose purpose of the project is to increase system reliability and optimizing operating activities. The inputs, outputs and auxiliary variables for the commissioning of the automatic system logic are defined. Finally we present the conclusions with the development of the automatic transport system, their reflections in the process of production and suggestion for future projects. Este trabalho apresenta a implantação de um sistema automatizado para o controle de transporte de bobinas de aços planos. No trabalho estão descritas as características do sistema de movimentação e as operações manuais realizadas pelos operadores. Também apresenta os métodos de programação e a arquitetura do hardware e software envolvido na linha de produção. Hoje essas operações são realizadas por meio de comandos manuais, o que não contribui para a produtividade da linha. O estudo é uma pesquisa científica aplicada fundamentalmente em campo e apresenta por meio da implantação do sistema automático uma solução que atenda as necessidades da do processo cujo objetivo é melhorar a confiabilidade e repetibilidade do sistema e possibilitar a otimização das atividades operacionais. São definidas as entradas, saídas e variáveis auxiliares para o comissionamento da lógica do sistema automático.
