Resumo: The relationship between stress and professional exhaustion has been increasingly studied. High charges for performance improvement and frequent updates on the training of the education professional can trigger higher levels of stress, which can affect not only the quality of your work but also your physical and mental health. The present research aims to investigate the stress and Burnout Syndrome in teacher education in masters and doctorate students of public universities. To measure stress and Burnout in the population of interest, the Maslach Burnout Inventory Student Survey (MBI-SS) was used, consisting of a questionnaire containing 15 items subdivided into three dimensions: professional exhaustion, disbelief and Effectiveness. His instrument has a Likert type scale, where the respondent had 7 different response options. For the application of the questionnaire, a convenience sample was used, which included a population of 40 students, 52.5% male and 47.5% female. To validate the tool used for data collection and for its qualitative analysis, statistical tools were used such as: exploratory factorial analysis, dispersion measures and measures of central tendency. The results for KMO test corresponded to 0.785, for Alpha Cronbach values were found for the dimensions emotional exhaustion + disbelief equal to 0.864 and professional efficacy equal to 0.842. As a result of the research it was possible to identify the existence of cases that presented results higher than 66 % For the dimensions emotional exhaustion and disbelief, and a case that can be characterized as Burnout Syndrome by also presenting scores below 33% for the professional effectiveness dimension. Of the 10 cases considered to be of concern, because they were above the limit established by the literature, eight were identified in the master's degree and two in the doctoral program where the case was classified as Burnout Syndrome.
