Resumo: The activities of the transport road haulage have been motivating several studies given the risks generated. Among these, in this work will be addressed the road accidents by means of a specific look at whether the scholarity of the truck drivers have been influencing the number of the accidents occurred during the transport of hazard loads in the state of Paraná. The study aims to identify the influence of the scholarity level of the truck drivers in statistic of road accidents involving hazardous loads. Interviews were conducted with professional drivers operating in road transport of fuels. All of the interviewed have been specifically trained as determined by CONTRAN Resolution No. 91 of 1999. Based on the collected data, we found that the lower the scholarity level of the truck drivers, the greater is the number of accidents while performing their work. It was also verified that most part of the drivers are practically illiterate, which reduces their cognitive capacity during the required training and, as a consequence, increases the likelihood of professional involved in road accidents. It is concluded that the lower the education level of the truck driver is most likely he was involved in accidents while performing the task.
