This work involves the definition of methodology and application of accelerated fatigue tests for truck side frames, aiming to compare the remaining average life of new and recovered sides frames (after the dettection of cracks at the critical regions), in order to generate data to help the decision on whether to implement this process. Failure data obtained from the fatigue life tests were analyzed using the life data analysis (LDA) and the quantitative accelerated life tests (QALT) methodologies, with the aid of Weibull++ and ALTA softwares. Economic feasibility analysis (LCC) and risk analysis about the recovering of the side frames were also carried out, which lead to the conclusion that the recovery of cracked side frames which were manufactured after the 2000 year is feasible, but is not feasible for the side frames manufactured before this date. |
