Resumo: This paper aims to present a teaching proposal that contemplates the chronic discursive genre, whose objective is to develop the practices of school readings for students of Youth and Adult Education (EJA), who are in the final stage of Secondary School in a city of São Paulo. The teaching proposal was developed considering the official Brazilian documents, PCNs (1988), BNCC (2017) and Curriculum of the City of São Paulo (2017), for the Portuguese language curricular component, contemplating the reading axis, as well as the discursive genre chronic, this being the support for the development of the proposal based on the receptive method developed by Aguiar and Bordini (1988), which meets the needs of developing the criticality of the reader and thus reach critical literacy, and awaken students' interest in readings for enjoyment.
