Resumo: The chromation process consists of making metallic electrodeposition on a surface. For this, there is a sequence of baths, mostly based on have metals, which are unhealthy, generate toxic vapors and can cause serious damages to the health of worker. Operators must use the PPE indicated in the NR-07, including acid gas masks, in addition to installing EPCs in the process, such as local exhaust ventilation. The objective of this study is to point out the possible diseases to the operators who inhale chromium and to offer suggestions to companies of the branch, enabling the prevention of diseases. The waste generated by this type of industry is aggressive to the environment, and can not dispose of its baths in sewage networks, rivers etc. In the event of an accident, local authorities should be advised. Filters were collected from the mask of an operator so that, through an optical microscope comparison, it was possible to verify the efficacy of the masks.
