Resumo: This research aims to find out what various authors say about the importance of sports and games and how these activities might help the process of teaching and learning and motor development, cognitive and affective-social of children's education. At first we cared about accost the contribution of sports and games in educational practice and to highlight the relationship between cognition and movement and how these factors interfere with development and learning of the children, because the action body is an essential factor for the significative learning. In this context, is paramount the teacher knows about the stages of children's development, and invest in their continual training. The developed theme describe in a bibliographic survey, where was searched in different works that accosted the subject. Then, it was posible to identificate that the ideas of the authors are quite similar, as regards the importance of the act of play in early childhood education, that through these experiences the child has the opportunity to explore and enhance their physical abilities, motor, cognitive and affective. So, fun and games should be presents as an educational tool of the teacher, acting on the motivation and creativity, contributing in the development of the children.
