At first we cared about accost the contribution of sports and games in educational practice and to highlight the relationship between cognition and movement and how these factors interfere with development and learning of the children, because the action body is an essential factor for the significative learning. In this context, is paramount the teacher knows about the stages of children's development, and invest in their continual training. The developed theme describe in a bibliographic survey, where was searched in different works that accosted the subject. Then, it was posible to identificate that the ideas of the authors are quite similar, as regards the importance of the act of play in early childhood education, that through these experiences the child has the opportunity to explore and enhance their physical abilities, motor, cognitive and affective. So, fun and games should be presents as an educational tool of the teacher, acting on the motivation and creativity, contributing in the development of the children. Esta pesquisa tem o propósito de averiguar o que dizem diversos autores sobre a importância dos jogos e brincadeiras e o quanto essas atividades podem auxiliar no processo de ensino aprendizagem e no desenvolvimento motor, cognitivo e afetivo social da criança na educação infantil. Nessa perspectiva, buscou-se por intermédio dos jogos e brincadeiras explorar diversos conteúdos inerentes a faixa etária. No início nos preocupamos em abordar a contribuição dos jogos e brincadeiras na prática educativa e destacar a relação entre a cognição e o movimento e como esses fatores interferem no desenvolvimento e aprendizagem da criança, pois a ação corporal é um fator indispensável para que a aprendizagem seja significativa. Neste âmbito, é primordial o professor conhecer as fases do desenvolvimento da criança, além de investir sempre em sua formação contínua. O tema desenvolvido caracteriza em um levantamento bibliográfico, onde foi pesquisado em várias obras que abordassem o assunto. Assim, foi possível identificar que as idéias dos autores são bastante semelhantes, no que se refere a importância do ato de brincar na educação infantil, que por intermédio dessas vivências a criança tem a oportunidade de explorar e aprimorar suas habilidades físicas, motoras, cognitivas e afetivas.
