Resumo: Storytelling plays an important role in Early Childhood Education, since it raises the child’s curiosity and interest in the book. Through the stories the student can experience various experiences, as well as facilitate the teaching and learning process. In this sense, the present work had as objectives, to investigate how teachers work with their children’s education students to develop reading, through the practice of storytelling and how teachers work to arouse interest in books. The work was based on a qualitative bibliographical research, being the study classified as exploratory and the instruments of data collection used to ascertain the objectives were bibliographic research and documentary research. As a result, it can be seen that storytelling is a pleasurable and motivating moment for the future reader. Considering the data collected, it can be concluded that narratives of stories in early childhood education constitute an indispensable practice for potentiating the process of teaching learning in a pleasurable way and broadening the worldview of the learner.
