Resumo: The objective of this study was to investigate what the teaching and learning strategies that can remove or at least minimize obstacles caused by not understanding the process of development of reading and writing for learning development of children of school age; analyze the possible causes of difficulty in the development of reading and writing in the early grades of elementary school in order to try to identify causes and factors that hinder students' learning during literacy and highlight the strategies that teachers can use in their teaching practice, helping with the children so that they can evolve significantly; critically analyze the process as is the teaching of reading and writing. Founded on a constructivist approach to achieving this for the child to succeed in the literacy process. The research concluded that every child can learn and that each has its own time, and the school can help this evolution. It is urgent that the teacher realizes that there are different rates of learning, that it may be the same, but each will assimilate according to their potential as knowledge evolves when the professional work theory and practice based on a proposal seeks to remedy the difficulties in the process of interaction between the students as much knowledge of the educator. The teacher always providing conditions reflections, suggesting a critical look at the educational practice and that is constant and that this quest for change is a means of improving the educational reality. The teacher should realize the need of the class and, thereafter, to expand and enhance knowledge, performing an integrated work that addresses the needs of students in a flexible manner, making use of the constant research, reflection and praxis.
