The literary language of the child nears reality showing you meaning in the stories we read, allowing also from the world of imaginations, develop their critical thinking in the face of actions that reading offers. According to Vygotsky (l989), the interactionist thought, language, designed a practical vision and social, is the basis of science, assuming historical materialism. The man changes the environment to suit the individual. The man, to transform the world in their work, will be discovering and making things. And reading children's stories in the field of literature, is the condition of entering the imagination of children and adolescents causing it to gounderstanding the actions surrounding it. Este trabalho teve como temática a leitura de obras literárias para alunos de 5º ano do ensino fundamental da escola Municipal Cherlei Coutrin de Oliveira, do município de Assis Chateaubriand, Paraná. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida em forma de oficina de leitura de textos literários, objetivando despertar o interesse destes alunos pela leitura, em especial a literatura infantil que é vista como um meio de expressão, uma ferramenta que auxilia na ampliação vocabular das crianças e adolescentes, além de colaborar para o desenvolvimento intelectual e formar uma visão no entendimento do mundo que os cerca. A linguagem literária aproxima a criança da realidade lhe mostrando significado nas histórias que lê, possibilitando também, a partir do mundo de imaginações, desenvolver seu pensamento crítico diante das ações que a leitura propõe. De acordo com Vygotsky (l989), no pensamento interacionista, a linguagem, concebida numa visão prática e social, é a base da ciência, assumindo o materialismo histórico. O homem muda o meio para adaptá-lo ao indivíduo. O homem, ao transformar o mundo no seu agir, vai-se descobrindo e transformando as coisas.
