Thus, this work was based on a literature survey having as theme, understanding the historical and cultural development of the discipline of art, seeking to understand the work involved in art at school, involving social relations, modes of production, the assumptions philosophical, in short, all the cultural reality in which artistic expression is inserted. The objective of this research was to investigate what is the role of art in the development of creativity of students on the content covered in class. The research was organized initially addressing, with the concept of what is art, discussing the issue of the act of teaching together with the role of the teacher and reflecting on assessment and learning in the discipline of art. Se a arte do adulto traduz seus sentimentos, suas emoções, sua relação com o mundo e com os seus pares, a arte manifestada pela criança tem essa mesma característica, pois ela denota a forma de a criança ver e vivenciar o seu mundo infantil na relação com o mundo mais amplo em que se insere. Diante disso, este trabalho pautou-se numa pesquisa bibliográfica tendo como temática, a compreensão do desenvolvimento histórico e cultural da disciplina de arte, buscando compreender o trabalho que envolve a Arte na escola, envolvendo as relações sociais, os modos de produção, os pressupostos filosóficos, enfim, toda a realidade cultural na qual a manifestação artística está inserida. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi investigar qual é o papel da arte no desenvolvimento da criatividade dos alunos diante dos conteúdos abordados em sala de aula.
