The study of the language and its dominance is fundamental in any society, it is the knowledge of own language that becomes possible quality communication with peers, defending their ideas and positioning themselves socially. The present study was based on the approach of methodologies of teaching English language through reading practice, targeted to students in the sixth year, the High School Marechal Arthur da Costa e Silva. These students went through a period of literacy in order to value the importance of learning, and eliminate the prejudices that society itself builds on children that discipline is too complex to be understood. The aim of this study was to analyze the methodologies that have been used in the practice of reading during the Portuguese classes. And the specific objectives were: To study the importance of reading practice in the Portuguese language classes; to observe how the sixth graders may have enhanced their intellectual development through reading practices. The methodology used to construct this work included literature research and field research that may be complementary to one another and contribute to a broader view on the proposed question. The results that are achieved through this study showed that students like the practice of reading, but it is essential to work for them interesting texts that have meaning in their lives. |
