The formation of eating habits is a process that starts since the birth and with the eating habits introduced early in life by parents, primarily responsible for the settling of these habits. However, over the years, the feeding behavior may suffer changes as a result of the environment, education or physiological aspects and related to the psychological of individuals. Thus, nutritional needs require long time of action and the school is part of this process, intervening in the culture and attitudes with cognitive bases. Nutrition education seeks to promote health, through the formation of eating healthier. Educational materials should serve as a tool to promote, build or modify eating habits. The objective of this study was to evaluate and analyze the applicability of the food pyramid as a teaching resource, to form good eating habits in children from 4th grade in the municipal primary school in the city of Foz do Iguaçu-PR and to contribute to the content related to food and child nutrition, nutrition education regarding the health content taught in the field of science as well. Nutrition education in the context of promoting healthy practices is considered an important strategy to cooperate with new challenges in the field of nutrition. The food pyramid as a method and educational guide on the rehabilitation of children of school age facilitates understanding and interest in food and its importance in their development. The information was organized into a category of analysis in order to contemplate the following topics: food, food groups (energy, manufacturers and regulators, and sporadic consumption), pyramid and food groups, healthy eating and daily unhealthy eating habits. The study participants had between 08 and 16 years, of both sexes all enrolled in the 4th series of the daytime morning and afternoon. To evaluate the efficacy of the questionnaire it was applied, and by the number of goals presented before and after the activity, as the effectiveness of education by showing that the pyramid as a teaching tool is easy to apply and to understand cause its contents have been addressed satisfactorily and promoted involvement of participants in activities, increasing the food knowledge process. In conclusion, partnerships between the school and a multidisciplinary team certainly improves the prevention of health problems without compromising the development of the school age children. |
