Here at work rather than theoretical aspect involves learning math, the results of the survey of students at a public school in the periphery in order to know the clientele that would be observed and the teachers of this city, finding their aspirations and major difficulties encountered in the teaching of mathematics and four operations. With the results from the interviews and observation of students during the year we raise hypotheses regarding the reasons presented in the 7th grade still many difficulties with respect to the domain of the four mathematical operations. Este trabalho teve como temática as dificuldades dos alunos de 7º ano com as quatro operações matemáticas básicas, considerando que nessa etapa de ensino esse conteúdo já deveria ser dominado pelos alunos, pois a partir desses conceitos eles poderiam avançar e teriam as habilidades necessárias para aprender temas mais complexos que exigem um pensamento abstrato bem desenvolvido e o domínio de fatores básicos referentes ao aprendizado matemático, como o cálculo mental e a autonomia na resolução de problemas matemáticos. Apresentado durante o trabalho um pouco do aspecto teórico que envolve o aprendizado matemático, os resultados da pesquisa feita com alunos de uma escola pública da periferia com o objetivo de conhecer a clientela que seria observada e com os professores desse município, descobrindo seus anseios e as maiores dificuldades encontradas no ensino da matemática e das quatro operações.
