Resumo: This paper presents a brief discussion on the importance of practical classes in science teaching in elementary school, which covers from 6th to 9th grade. These practical classes can be implied as experimental classes, field classes, planned observations, in other words, classes that flee from the simple chalk-and-blackboard model in the classroom. Data collection took place in a private school in Foz do Iguaçu, where students have practical classes weekly in equipped laboratories. The questionnaire was important to ascertain whether the objectives of these practical classes were achieved, if they really complemented the lectures, making learning more meaningful for the student. With data analysis, it was noticed that students really solve their doubts in practical classes, and most importantly, they recognize the importance of observing in practice what has been studied, and then offering them another tool, which does not depend only on their imagination.
