Resumo: This paper presents strategies for teaching mathematics in kindergarten and early grades in order to propose different teaching techniques to awaken in children interest for mathematics, developing logical thinking and skills to solve math problems. In order to do so, it was developed an educational software based in basic operations as additions and subtractions. A survey was conducted at the Municipal School Jovina de Paula Pessente, sited at Ibaté city with the students from the 2nd stage (children aged 5 and 6 years). The lack of studies about this theme involving children at those ages was the principal motivation for this work. It has been observed that is perfectly possible to apply information and communications technologies (ICT) in early childhood education resulting in more interest from the students and improving their mathematics skills.
