Resumo: Today, land is reaching an increasingly critical point with increasing consumption and the uncontrollable exploitation of natural products and resources casting doubt on its future. It is necessary to reflect on the importance of making changes in habits, incorporating small attitudes that involve the awareness of the need to adopt measures that ameliorate the environmental impact This study aims to evaluate the attitude of students and teachers regarding the correct disposal of solid waste. For this purpose, a questionnaire was applied to a sample of 88 respondents from a State School of Franca-SP. Of the results, 53% were men and 47% women. The age range of students varies from 12 to 15 years, and most teachers are in the range of 31 to 40 years. In the evaluated questions, it was verified that the sample investigated 20,5% presents sustainable attitudes about environment, only 14% presents sustainable attitudes regarding the correct disposal of the solid residues compared to companies in the city 34% do not believe that disposal is done properly while 15% of the participants separate their waste. Thus, it is important to encourage environmental education, implement projects that aim to transmit knowledge about the importance of the correct disposal of solid waste generated by the population in the environment, and the importance of adopting measures related to the recycling of solid waste generated in the daily life of the population.
