Resumo: One way to deal with learning in science is to make use of differentiated didactic resources. With this in mind, and considering the experience of the students in the Education of Young and Adults, we sought to link these aspects through the cultivation of the garden to the axis Environmental Education and Cross-cutting Issues in relation to Health, as determined by the National Curricular Programs and its guidelines. Thus, this practice in basic education must be a present and transformative element, capable of sensitizing people and orienting them towards a global environmental awareness. In addition, because it deals with different processes and mechanisms of several areas of knowledge, it can be understood as an agglutinating or problematizing element when dealing with the natural, social and interrelated phenomena that involve it. The study was conducted at the Municipal School Comendador Piero Pollone, in the municipality of Santo André - SP, from March to June 2018. It was two moments of data collection by questionnaires, before, as a prior or control, and afterwards, as a way of measuring the learning of the approaches related to the theme after implementation and conduction of the school vegetable garden. With the development of the activities we perceive a movement in relation to the perception and apprehension of the contents, we can also highlight the expression of new vocabularies. The vegetable garden benefits from the use of vegetables for the composition of healthy food, recycling of nutrients and materials, as well as valuing the environment and relations between students and between students and teachers.
