Resumo: This study presents the epidemiological profile of snakebites occurred in the city of Umuarama-Paraná and the region from January 2010 to December 2013, notified by the Injuries and Notification Information System (SINAN). Accidents were analyzed in the following aspects: sex; age; affected anatomical region; occurring area; type of snake and time of year and month with the highest incidence of cases. Of the 252 cases accidents by snakes, 90.9% had ignored response. The Bothrops was responsible for most accidents with 5.2%, followed by Crotalus genus with 3.9%. Men were the most affected with 58%, and the most affected anatomical regions were 44.4% lower members. Most of the accidents occurred in rural areas, probably in circumstances arising from work or leisure. With the results obtained in this study, it was found that some factors such as lack of personal protective equipment use could greatly reduce these accidents.
