Resumo: This work was thematic analysis of risk perception of a group 68 students from 9th grade of elementary education at a public school in the city of Blumenau - SC, located in the Valley of the Itajaí-Açu River from the environmental disaster happened in there in 2008. Seeking to recognize is the relationship of these students with environmental. Find out how these students relate to recurrent environmental risks in the region, especially in relation to episodes of flooding, landslides among others, which has reached the city since its founding in 1850. He sought even realize the importance of schools in building this perception environmental risk and how the theme has been crafted by educators from the incident. For this purpose we use an action research methodology, seeking to understand which environmental perception of students regarding the occurrence of natural disasters and their vulnerabilities. So we chose a qualitative research, based on discourse analysis of students, which were obtained by means of teacher's notes (logbook) but mainly through documents produced by the students themselves. These obtained in two ways, through image display and recording of sensations by students and through mixed individual questionnaire, consisting of 16 different issues. Making it clear that after about seven years of the disaster, many students do not recognize to the severity of the disaster, acknowledged as the greatest natural disaster of Santa Catarina here. An environmental perception blurred the socio-environmental context, which leads to disaster, worse or enhances their damage order materials or loss of human life. If society as a whole, do not articulate to give quota properly theme, the 2008 disaster could become something routine.
