Resumo: This work had as its theme the challenges faced by teachers for conducting environmental education in the activities developed at the Municipal School of Basic Education Prefeito Valdecir Angelo Zampieri in the municipality of Irani / in Santa Catarina. Environmental dimensions are configured increasingly as an issue that concerns all the actors of the educational universe, enhanced by the involvement of the school community as a whole. In Tbilisi Intergovernmental Conference on Environmental Education, in 1977, environmental education it was defined as a dimension given to the content and the practical of learning, geared to addressing the real problems of the environment through interdisciplinary approaches and the active participation and responsibility of each individual and the community, to contribute to the formation of a consciousness about the importance of preserving the quality of the environment in its relation to the development considering the socio-cultural, economic, political aspects , scientific, technological, ecological and ethical it were sought to develop several activities with all segments of this teaching unit. Environmental education must be approached systematically and transversely at all levels of education, ensuring the presence of the environmental dimension in an interdisciplinary manner in the curricula of various subjects and school activities which causes implement environmental education in schools has it shown as an overwhelming task, but still must be considered / implemented in all schools. It was noted that at "Valdecir Zampieri School” the environmental education it is present in the daily actions, a fact verified throughout the development of this research topic, as the school develops several actions aimed at developing greater environmental awareness on activities in own school or providing opportunities to the students to participate on activities at regional and even statewide.
