Resumo: This work was field research Environmental Education in Elementary Education Schools taking as an investigative and exploratory study Municipal School President Castelo Branco, located in the Uruguayan community in San Roque Avenue in the suburb of Salvador. The overall objective of the research was to evaluate the level of concern of school management and the environmental awareness of students and teachers, seeking to contribute to the formation of concerned citizens from projects realizados.Os data were collected directly from the target audience, with basis in theory analyzed this final respeito.Ao was found that in school researched environmental education is integrated in an interdisciplinary way in the school curriculum and that the majority of teachers and students has perception of environmental issues and the importance of addressing these issues in micro spaces and macro School. Consciousness and consequently behavior change in relation to the environment, are today key factors for improving the quality of life for all. In this sense, environmental education has been increasing, as a tool to reach a large portion of society. It is believed that the mandatory inclusion of the environmental debate at all levels in Brazilian schools (public and private), so critical and transformative is a prominent strategy in changing attitudes and behaviors, generating citizens aware, participatory and responsible with social values economic and aimed at preserving the environment.
