It was based on the current situation of the environmental situation of the municipality of Paranavaí / PR, due to the recent epidemic of dengue that affected the inhabitants of the municipality, in which there was a lack of knowledge of the inhabitants on the theme nature and sustainability. Many citizens still have the habit of throwing trash in the streets or in places prohibited by environmental legislation, causing serious problems and risks, especially of health. The data collection was done through questionnaires, to the most varied age groups, social level, educational level and gender. This analysis of the results will support more sustainable actions, through good environmental practices, since it has highlighted the need for communication in the media about the importance of selective collection and its consequences in the economic, social and environmental spheres. Este trabalho teve como temática analisar o nível de conhecimento da população de Paranavaí/PR na questão da coleta seletiva dos resíduos sólidos. Partiu-se do contexto atual da situação ambiental do município de Paranavaí/PR, devido à recente epidemia de dengue que acometeu os habitantes do município, no qual verificou-se a falta de conhecimento dos moradores quanto ao tema natureza e sustentabilidade. Muitos cidadãos ainda tem o habito de jogar lixo nas ruas ou em lugares proibidos pela legislação ambiental, causando sérios problemas e riscos, principalmente de saúde. A coleta de dados foi feita através de questionários, às mais variadas faixa etárias, nível social, grau de escolaridade e gênero.
