Resumo: A Fume Hood is a type of local exhaust ventilation system (LEVS) that is widely used in laboratories as collective protection devices. These systems are used daily by academics at different levels of laboratory experience. In general, laboratories are environments that may present different sources of risks, especially risks inherent in the handling of chemicals. Due to the lack of specific Brazilian regulations for the Fume Hood, the execution of preventive maintenance routines should be a practice adopted by private or public bodies that have LEVS installed, this providing a safer working environment for its users. In this sense, the purpose of the present work is to develop an analysis that applies international laws, via audit, in all the laboratories Fume Hood Systems used by Chemical Engineering students of the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná - Campus Ponta Grossa, with the purpose of evaluating the conditions of the Fume Hood. The applied methodology proved to be efficient and the results obtained indicated a poor scenario, in which the evaluated systems are under non-ideal design conditions, as well as examples of bad laboratory practices that imply inefficient LEVS.
