Resumo: The Brazilian food sector has been highlighting among the areas that most employ workers in the country. The high competition causes workers in this industry to suffer from wear and tear on repetitive tasks and high psychological wear, becoming more vulnerable, resulting in accidents at work. Work accident is that which occurs by the exercise of work, causing bodily injury or functional disturbance that causes death or the loss or reduction, permanent or temporary, of the capacity for work. CAT is the main tool used in Brazil for the collection of data related to work accidents. The objective of this study is the quantitative analysis of occupational accidents in the Brazilian food industry in the years 2013, 2014 and 2015 through the Statistical Yearbook of Accidents at Work: AEAT 2015. Work accidents in the food industry have reduced by 15% between the year 2013 and 2014. Already between 2014 and 2015, there was a decrease of 7.94% in the number of occupational accidents cases. The Southeast region has the largest number of food industries in Brazil. It accounts for about 40% of total work-related accidents in the food industry. This amounts to a total of 15160 accidents in the year 2015. The collection of statistical data has proven to be an important ally in the fight against accidents at work. In order to maintain the reduction of work accidents and to guarantee the health of the worker, there must be a planning, taking into account the peculiarities of each Brazilian region.
