Resumo: Studies of body composition are possible from anthropometric measures; such measures can assess the state and risk of obesity. The five-component method of Déborah Kerr was chosen for the study to determine the anthropometric profile of university students. This is a cross-sectional study. The selection of the sample will be non-random, for convenience, consisting of 33 women aged between 18 and 30 years, who attended Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education at the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná from the 1st to the 8th period. For the anthropometric evaluation, the scientific plicometer Cescorf was used, with a resolution of 0.1mm, wall stadiometer of the WCS brand with scale up to 220 centimeters, a digital scale of the brand Wiso model W801 with capacity of 0-180kg and resolution of 100 g, Cescorf brand anthropometric tape, short and long rod caliper. Measurements of body mass, height, seated height, diameters, skinfolds and perimeters were performed. Subsequently the calculation of the different tissues (epithelial mass, adipose mass, muscle mass, bone mass and residual mass) was performed, this fractionation of the body mass in its different components, makes possible the perception of the body changes. After splitting the body composition, the profile of the students was determined with the aid of the IBM SPSS Statistics Base 22.0 program, using mean and standard deviation. The mean age of participants was 23.06, ± 3.24, height 164.82 ± 6.18 cm, total body mass 63.991 ± 11.228 kg, Body Mass Index (BMI) 23.79 kg / m values of the means of the basic measurements and diameters were somewhat lower than the normative values of phantom, except for the antero posterior diameter of the thorax. The perimeters presented values close to the reference, except for the calf perimeter, which was well above the reference, being the most discrepant. In the folds most of the values remained similar, with greater difference in the triceps and supraspinal fold. The result of the final muscle mass was 22.30 ± 3.71 kg, adipose mass 25.00 ± 6.96 kg, epithelial mass 3.66 ± 0.32 kg bone mass 6.73 ± 0.99 and residual mass 6, 28 ± 1.43 Kg. It is concluded that the university students have a fat mass above the reference value and muscle mass below, characterizing a trend towards obesity and muscle deficit.
