Resumo: The main objective of the present work is to analyse the potential of teaching techniques mediated by Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), with focus on Geography, available as Open Educational Resources (OER) for teachers as a possible qualification to the process of teaching on the scope of Middle School. The methodology consists in a qualitative approach, where data collection was made from published materials in the form of books, journals and websites, related to the objectives of the research. Some technological tools available as OER were shown in the theoretical references, which can be included in the teaching-learning process as to facilitate students’ understanding, with focus on Geography classes, such approaches being based on studies by Baliski (2016), Kenski (2008), Pessoa (2011), Seabra (2010) among other authors who analyze this theme. Data analysis was made from classes’ plans available at the Portal do Professor, where the potential of ICT use for an effective classroom-work are discussed, specially in the teaching of Geography. With this aim, the plans and didactic sequences were selected based on some criteria, e.g. being made for Middle School classes, related to the technologies used in this work and available to help Geography teachers, as to make the subject more attractive, dynamic and easier to understand. Hopefully this work contributes to help teachers that aim to implement the use of ICTs in their class plans, and also to teachers who are starting their carreers in Geography, considering that each one could adapt to their use of the tools to their specific needs and include them in the best way possible, leading to a better quality of education, leading to a reflexive analysis by the student, aiding their perception as a citizen who belongs to a society.
