Resumo: The use of techonologies in teaching is a subject that brought debates in the last years. This work has the objective to analyse the potential and limitations of the brazilian Ministry of Education’s (MEC) Portal do Professor (Teacher’s Portal), as a space for Open Educational Resources. This Portal was created with the aim to promote the use of Technologies of Information and Communication in the teachinglearning processes, and the Open Educational Resources can aid to that goal. A didactic material can be considered an Open Educational Resource if it is freely available for use and share, but also allow adaptations for different implementations, by the use of free licenses, in such a way that they also help the propagation of different pedagogical practices. In this way, the Portal was analysed according to the life-cycle of an Open Educational Resource: find, use, adapt, create, and share. Questions related to the Portal’s usability were considered, as this is a factor that influences the utilization of an online space. As a result, potential was observed, because the Portal do Professor favors the actions of find, use and share. However, some limitations for the development of an Open Educational Resource’s life-cycle were found, specially in the case related to the creation and adaptation, since there are no options for viable tools for this end. Thus, greater discussions are needed, aiming at the elaboration of strategies to overcome the limitations found.
