The main objective was to investigate the environmental perception of educators, as well as to present subsidies for the elaborationof Formal Environmental Education with an emphasis on solid waste. The techniques used in the research were list of topics for a pre­structured interview: the diagnostic questionnaire and the simple observation. The universe of respondents was restricted to the educators of Elementary School (final years) and High School, as well as to the school principal. Thirteen educators answered the survey, containing 14 questions, which 1 was dissertative and 13 were multiple choice. The interview with the school principal, presented 12 topics, which 10 topics questions pre­structured and sent via email and 2 topics via video conference. The analysis of the survey pointed out several possibilities for understanding the action in reality. It was possible to confirm that most educators showed interest in the environmental theme. It stood for the relevance of the insertion of the environmental theme in the teaching­learning process. The recognition of the new knowledge related to the environmental issues would be necessary or would contribute to the development of teaching activities. In relation to recognition of the damage inherent to human action in the different ecosystems, a significant portion of educators recognized the them. However, it needs to be mentioned that educators who did not recognize or denied the generation of negative environmental impacts, looking for alternatives of awareness and participation. In general, it was possible to verify the feasibility of offering training courses, workshops or similar events focused on the environmental theme with an emphasis on waste solids. It showed up that the school develops projects and partnerships with several institutions in the environmental area. It must be mentioned that there is a necessity to prioritize the development of projects and contextualized and guided actions by collective participation, dialoguing with the school community and elaborating possible interventions. A presente pesquisa foi desenvolvida em uma Escola de educação Básica localizada no município de Rio do Sul, estado de Santa Catarina. Objetivou-­se investigar a percepção ambiental dos educadores, bem como apresentar subsídios para elaboração de projetos voltados à Educação Ambiental formal, com ênfase e m resíduos sólidos. As técnicas utilizadas no decorrer da pesquisa foram o roteiro para entrevista semi­estruturada, o questionário diagnóstico e a observação simples. O universo dos entrevistados, restringiu­-se aos educadores do Ensino Fundamental –Anos Finais e Ensino Médio, bem como a gestora da unidade escolar. Treze educadores responderam ao questionário elaborado, contendo 14 questões, sendo: 1 dissertativa e 13 optativas. A entrevista com a gestora da unidade escolar, apresentou 12 tópicos, sendo:10 tópicos abordados por meio de entrevista semiestruturada via e-­mail e 2 tópicos por meio de videoconferência. A análise dos questionários sinalizou para diversas possibilidades de compreensão e de ação sobre a realidade. Foi possível verificar que a maioria dos educadores apresentou interesse em relação à temática ambiental. Prevaleceu entre os mesmos, a compreensão da relevância da inserção da temática ambiental no processo ensino aprendizagem. Predominou o reconhecimento de que novos conhecimentos relacionados à temática ambiental seriam necessários ou contribuiriam para o desenvolvimento das atividades docentes. Em relação ao reconhecimento dos danos inerentes à ação humana nos diversos ecossistemas, uma parcela significativa dos educadores reconheceu os mesmos. Todavia, há necessidade de considerar os educadores que não reconheceram ou negaram a geração de impactos ambientais negativos, buscando alternativas de sensibilização e participação. De modo geral, foi possível constatar a viabilidade da oferta de cursos de capacitação, oficinas ou eventos similares voltados à temática ambiental, com ênfase em resíduos sólidos. Constatou-­se, ainda, que a unidade escolar desenvolve projetos e parcerias com instituições diversas na área ambiental.
