Resumo: This study aimed to characterize the profile of defaulting customers in a microenterprise in the footwear and apparel industry. The research is characterized as a case study with qualitative and quantitative approach. The data were collected based on credit control and control of accounts receivable of the company under study. The profile was defined based on customer registration data, to distinguish possible characteristics that differentiate defaulting customers from non-performing ones. It was found that the company's default profile is mostly women; widows with two children and retirees with salary ranges between 1 and 2 minimum wages. Based on the findings of the study, the concept of 5Cs was presented to the company so that the management, by using this concept, seeks to mitigate the problem of default.
