It has been, for centuries, responsible for the informal popularisation of knowledge to all classes with access to either physical or digital media. This work aims to find correlations between science popularisation and the choice for undergraduate Physics degrees, in order to quantitatively support investment directly in popular science or in related research. A questionnaire was delivered through the institutional e-mail of students of undergraduate courses in Physics at public universities in the city of Curitiba, Brazil. Correlations between the data were sought through statistical techniques such as data mining; further comments from students were used as basis for the analysis of the results. We find that scientific dissemination is more determinant in the choice of Physics degrees by older respondents. There is probably a strong influence of Astronomy, frequent reading and family members that culminates in this career choice. A divulgação científica é uma importante ferramenta de conexão da ciência com a sociedade, há séculos responsável pela popularização informal do conhecimento a todas as classes com acesso a mídias físicas ou digitais. Este trabalho busca encontrar relações entre a divulgação científica e a escolha pelo curso de Física, a fim de sugerir a importância do investimento diretamente na prática ou em pesquisas sobre o tema. Foi veiculado, através de e-mail institucional, um questionário para alunos dos cursos de graduação em Física de universidades públicas da cidade de Curitiba–PR. Foram exploradas relações entre os dados através de técnicas estatísticas como data mining, e comentários extras dos respondentes utilizados como base para análise dos resultados. Sugerimos que a divulgação científica pode ser mais determinante na escolha do curso de Física por parte dos respondentes com mais idade.
